Mysuru: Tensions soar in Karnataka's Mysuru over a derogatory social media post on Aam Admi Party's (AAP's) national convener Arvind Kejriwal, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. The post was reportedly written in Arabic script and had morphed images of the three leaders to celebrate AAP's defeat in Delhi. The post also had derogatory remarks against leaders of particular community were allegedly made to hurt religious sentiments, reported India Today.
After the post went viral, a group belonging to the minority community on Monday night in front of the Udayagiri police station demanding action against the accused person. The accused is a resident of Kalyannagar in Mysuru.
Though the police tried to pacify the crowd and even roped in religious leaders who requested them to calm down, the situation turned violent and the crowd started pelting stones on the police station. They raised slogans and when the situation went out of control, the police resorted to lathi-charge and later fired tear gas to quell the mob, reported IANS.

A heavy deployment was made in the area to control the situation. Along with local political leaders appealed to the crowd and assured that action would be taken against the accused person and managed to convince the mob to withdraw the protest. Though the police have controlled the situation, tension is still prevailing in the area.
The accused was later arrested by the police, reported India Today. A detailed investigation has been launched into the matter.
