Tamil Nadu CM Stalin takes Bullet Train ride in Japan, calls for introducing it in ‘Future India’

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, currently on a scheduled investment pitch visit to Japan, expressed fascination after experiencing a ride on the Bullet Train from Osaka to Tokyo on Sunday. He called for the introduction of a similar high-speed railway service in 'Future India'.

Calls for bullet trains in India

In a tweet written in Tamil, Stalin shared his excitement, stating, "Travelling from Osaka to Tokyo on the #BulletTrain. Covering a distance of about 500 km in less than two and a half hours. We should introduce a railway service in India that matches the design, speed, and quality of the Bullet Train. This will benefit the poor, the common people, and the middle class, making their journeys easier! #FutureIndia."

Stalin's tweet about the Bullet Train coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inauguration of the new Parliament building in New Delhi, where a 'sengol' gifted by a mutt in Tamil Nadu to India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, was installed. However, Stalin's visit was not intentionally timed for this occasion. It was announced several weeks ago as part of his tour to Singapore and Japan, in preparation for next year's Global Investors Meet in Chennai.

Expressing his gratitude, Stalin tweeted about the warm reception he received from people of Indian origin at the century-old #TheIndianClub in Japan. He highlighted the love and diversity they exhibited, particularly praising the exceptional performance by Bharatanatyam artists, which left a profound impression on him.

Stating his objective, Stalin mentioned that he urged the Indian diaspora in Japan to raise awareness about the investment opportunities and advantages in Tamil Nadu, a pioneering state in implementing transformative schemes in India. He emphasized the need to inform potential investors in Japan about the bright prospects and incentives available in Tamil Nadu.
