Rajasthan Tragedy: At Least 14 Children Electrocuted During Mahashivratri Procession In Kota, 1 Critical; Visuals Surface

At least 14 children were electrocuted during a Shiv Baraat on the occasion of Mahashivratri in Kota, Rajasthan on Friday. All the children have been admitted to MBS Hospital in Kota. The condition of one of the children is reported to be serious.

The incident took place in Kali Basti located in the Sagatpura area of the city where a Shiv Barat was organised and the children were carrying religious flags.

During this long pole of a flag touched the high-tension line of the area It is being said that there was water in the FM where the Shiva Barat was passing. Due to this the current spread rapidly.

Kota SP Amrita Duhan said, "It's a very sad incident. People from the Kaali Basti were gathered here with their Kalash, a child was carrying a pipe of 20-22 ft that touched the high-tension wire. In an attempt to save that child, all the children present there were electrocuted. An investigation has been initiated. The age of all is between 9 to 16 years."

At the same time, IG Ravidutt Gaur said that one child was burnt to the extent of 70 per cent and the other to 50 per cent. The remaining children sustained 10 per cent burns.

On receiving information about the incident, the Lok Sabha Speaker reached the hospital. "It is a sad incident. This incident will be investigated. One kid is serious and will be referred to Jaipur if needed," he said.
