Punjab: 3 Alleged Bishnoi Gang Members Held After Encounter In Muktsar
Had demanded Rs 1 cr from Muktsar businessman in name of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi

Chandigarh: Punjab police late Saturday night nabbed three persons who claimed to be members of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and demanded Rs 1 crore extortion from a businessman, after an encounter in Muktsar district.
Stating that the accused were nabbed after an encounter on Muktsar-Ferozepur road where they had come to collect the extortion money on the said point, police said that the accused had demanded Rs 1 crore from a Muktsar-based businessman two days ago after which he had reported the matter to the police.
Police said that a strategy was planned subsequently according to which the complainant agreed to give Rs 15 lakh as first instalment to the accused and was called by them near village Lubanyanwali to handover the money late Saturday night. However, the police surrounded them when the accused were about to flee the spot after taking money, one of them fired at the police team and police also opened fire on them injuring one, identified as Sukhmandar Singh. Subsequently, two other accused Lakhbir Singh and Sarwan Singh were also nabbed, police said adding that it was later learnt that one of them was earlier an employee of the businessman. Police also said it was also yet ascertain whether they were associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang or not.
2 NABBED AFTER ENCOUNTER IN HARYANA
Meanwhile, in another development, the Haryana police nabbed two absconding criminals from near Hansi town area of Haryana’s Hisar district following an encounter in the wee hours of Sunday.
Police said that on getting a tip-off, the police surrounded the two criminals, Ajay and Rahul, near Hansi, though they tried to flee after opening fire on police. Police has also recovered two pistols from their possession.

Earlier, late on Saturday night, the Haryana police also nabbed a member of gangster Goldy Brar near Hisar after an encounter.
Police said that acting on a tip-off, a police team surrounded an accused Yash Kumar of Sonepat district and some other unscrupulous persons who were travelling in a car. However, Yash got out of the car and fired at the police team but was injured in police fire and arrested, while the accused fled the spot.
