Prajwal Revanna Sex Tape Controversy: Rape Case Filed Against Suspended JDS Hassan MP |
A rape case has been filed against suspended JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna in the sex tapes scandal, said a report in the India Today. This is the second case against the Hassan MP in the case and was filed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Karnataka Police.
Charges Against Prajwal Revanna
According to reports, the case has been filed under Section 376 of the IPC. It lists charges under Section 376(2) (N) (committing rape repeatedly), 506 (criminal intimidation), 354A(1)(ii) (demand for sexual favour), 354(B) (assault or criminal force on a woman with the intention to disrobe her), and 354(C) (uploading of nude or semi-nude pictures), and the IT Act.
Another Case Filed Earlier
As the sole accused, Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, finds himself at the centre of the controversy. The FIR was submitted to the magistrate's court by SIT officers on Thursday. Earlier, he and his father, former Karnataka minister HD Revanna, faced charges of sexual harassment and other offences based on a complaint from a former household worker.
Lookout Notice Issued Against Revanna
Running for re-election from Hassan constituency, Prajwal Revanna's political future is clouded by the scandal. Dismissing the videos as morphed, he lodged a complaint via his polling agent. The Karnataka government's SIT, taking action, issued a global lookout notice against him at immigration centres worldwide, after reports emerged of his departure to Frankfurt, Germany, on April 26, following the allegations.
Despite an expected appearance before the SIT on Thursday, Prajwal Revanna sought anticipatory bail from a Bengaluru sessions court, adding another layer to the legal proceedings surrounding the case.
