Mathura: Vrindavan-based spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj landed in hot water after a video of him making derogatory remarks about young women, surfaced.
In the widely circulated clip, he claims that “hardly two-four girls out of 100 are pure” in today’s time, implying that most are involved in romantic or sexual relationships. The controversial comment triggered widespread backlash across social media, with many accusing the saint of promoting regressive views against women.

'Girls Lack Purity, Boys Can't Be Loyal'
In the video, Premanand expresses concern over modern relationships. He says that a young man who has been with four girls develops a “habit of adultery” and cannot stay loyal to his wife. Likewise, he claimed that a woman who has had relationships with four men “does not have the courage to accept a husband.” He further says that “only two-four girls out of 100” live what he calls a “pure life” devoted to one man.
The remarks drew sharp criticism online, with many calling them “insulting” and “narrow-minded.” Netizens also argued that such statements demean women and promote toxic stereotypes about relationships and morality.
While Premanand is widely respected for his religious teachings, the video has divided his followers, with many questioning the intent and tone of his words. Have a look at the reaction here:
Aniruddhacharya Maharaj Row
This isn’t the first time a religious figure has faced flak for similar views. Earlier, Uttar Pradesh’s Aniruddhacharya Maharaj had made controversial comments about women, which were condemned by women’s organisations and labelled “anti-constitutional.” The National Commission for Women had also taken note, prompting widespread protests that eventually led to a public apology from the saint.
