Kolkata: Governor CV Ananda Bose on Sunday had submitted his report on Murshidabad violence to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
According to sources of Raj Bhawan, the Governor has mentioned in his report that the implementation of Article 356 of the Constitution is needed if the situation worsens.
Notably, the imposition of Article 356 of the Constitution refers to the President's rule in a state.
“The situation is a direct threat to the lapses of the state government. Radicalisation and militancy poses a serious challenge for West Bengal,” said the Raj Bawan sources mentioning about the report.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP and spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said that the saffron camp will oust the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government democratically.
“The party has come to power through the election. The Saffron camp is the only party which doesn’t want ousting the present government through any unfair means but democratically. The BJP will oust TMC,” said Bhattacharya.
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh mentioned, “The Governor’s report is politically motivated. He has made such a report to please his masters.”
Meanwhile, families of the deceased father and son duo in Murshidabad during WAQF protest violence, alleging heckling from the police had taken shelter in Salt Lake in Kolkata.
On the other hand, the former OC and SI in Murshidabad where the violence took place are suspended.
