Mahashivratri was celebrated with notable fervor across Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. Large numbers of devotees visited Shiva temples, including Neelkantheshwar Dham Muthpara, Budheshwar Mandir Budhapara, and Hatkeshwar Mahadev Mandir Raipur, to offer prayers and perform the 'Jalabhishek' ritual.

"Mahashivratri is one of the most significant festivals for Hindus," renowned priest Pandit Ashok Dubey said. He highlighted differences in observances, explaining that while South India marks the Chaturdashi Tithi during Krishna Paksha in the month of Magha as Maha Shivaratri, North India observes it in Phalguna.
Temples in the state capital hosted various religious events throughout the day, including bhajans and devotional programs. 'Bhandaras' were also organized to provide food for devotees, showcasing the deep devotion and cultural significance of Mahashivratri in the region.
