On the first day of Mahakumbh, nearly 60 lakh devotees took a dip in the Sangam in their quest for 'moksha' and the belief it will cleanse their sins.

The Maha Kumbh, the major pilgrimage, kicked off today as lakhs of pilgrims took a holy bath in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj where rivers Ganges, Yamuna, and Sarasvati confluence.
Along with the visuals of pilgrims taking a dip at the confluence, another video has surfaced online in which a baba can be seen beating a YouTuber with a 'chimta' (tongs).
The said video has been widely circulated online with the claim that the Baba seen in the video is Mahakal Giri.
In the 34-second viral clip, a man, presumably a YouTuber, with a mic in his hand, asks questions to the baba who is sitting inside a makeshift tent.
The Baba's one hand is in a raised position. The YouTuber inquires when he joined the 'sanyasi' sect. "Since childhood," answers the Baba. In the following question, he asks the Baba about which bhajan he sings for God. Displeased by the YouTuber's question, the Baba jumps to his feet and says "Kya tamasha hai ye" (what nonsense is this). Then he starts striking the YouTuber with the "chimta," after which the YouTuber gets up and runs to save himself from the Baba.
