Days after a little known Hindu fundamentalist outfit gave a call to private bus operators in Surat not to halt at highway joints run by Muslims, an irate group of Bajrang Dal members on Saturday stormed a joint of KFC and forced it to shut down.

They went to a few Pizza Hut, Kia and Hyundai branches too and forced some of them to close.

They claimed to be incensed with the reported KFC Pakistan unit’s supporting ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ on Monday and similar social media posts by some people associated with Kia and Hyundai.

Ahmedabad Bajrang Dal chief Jwalit Mehta told reporters after the siege on KFC, “Until these companies apologise and tweet again that Kashmir is an integral part of India, we won't let them do business here."

It may be recalled that fast food restaurant chain KFC's India arm had on Monday "deeply apologized" for a social media post supporting 'Kashmir Solidarity Day' by its Pakistan arm.

KFC India had tweeted: "We deeply apologize for a post that was published on some KFC social media channels outside the country. We honour and respect India, and remain steadfast in our commitment to serving all Indians with pride."

Meanwhile, KFC and Pizza Hut had also deleted their posts after #BoycottKFC and #BoycottPizzaHut began trending on Twitter. Some Twitter users also shared screenshots of KFC's tweets and shared them on all platforms.
