Delhi Riots Case: Umar Khalid Gets 7-Day Interim Bail To Attend Family Wedding; Check Bail Conditions
Umar Khalid, who faces charges under UAPA Act in connection with 2020 Delhi riots, has been granted seven-day interim bail by a court in Delhi. The bail has been granted for him to be able to attend a relative's wedding. Conditions have been imposed on Khalid over his conduct during the interim bail period.

Delhi Riots Case: Court has granted Umar Khalid seven-day bail. The interim bail has been granted to Khalid in order for him to be able attend a wedding in the family. Previously, Khalid face tough time trying for bail. In October 2022, he was denied bail by Delhi High Court. Khalid faces charges under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with 2020 North-East Delhi riots. Khalid will be out on bail from December 28, 2024 to January 3, 2025.
Khalid had sought 10-day bail but court granted seven-days. Delhi's Karkardooma court in New Delhi.
Umar Khalid was arrested in September 14, 2020 over allegations of larger conspiracy behind Delhi riots of February 2020. He has been in custody ever since.
Fifty-three people were killed in the riots and more than 700 were injured.
Earlier this year, a trial court rejected his bail plea.

However, the court has imposed several conditions on Khalid as it granted him bail.
During his bail period, Khalid is forbidden from meeting witnesses or any person connected with the case.
He has also been barred from using social media.
Khalid is only allowed to meet his familiy, relatives and friends during the period of interim bail.
Umar Khalid will have to surrender before the concerned jail authorities at the end of bail period on January 3, 2025.
FIR 59 of 2020 was registered by Delhi Police's Special Cell under various offences under the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
Other accused in the case are Khalid Saifi, Natasha Narwal, Faizan Khan, Sharjeel Imam, Safoora Zargar, Athar Khan, Mohd. Saleem Khan, Saleem Malik, Tasleem Ahmed, Shadab Ahmed, Asif Iqbal Tanha, Shifa-Ur-Rehman, Gulfisha Fatima, Meeran Haider, Isharat Jahan, Tahir Hussain.
