Delhi Car Blast Probe: ED Raids 25 Locations Linked To Al-Falah University

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday morning conducted raids at 25 locations linked to Haryana's Faridabad-based Al-Falah University as part of an investigation into its funding. The development came days after the November 10 Delhi blast. For the unversed, Dr Muhammad Umar Nabi, the terrorist who carried out the blast, was employed with the university. Meanwhile, two of its other doctors are also suspects in the blast case.

The ED is taking action under the anti-money laundering law following cognisance of the first information reports filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Delhi Police in the case, reported PTI.

The ED is probing finances and purported terror financing links in the Faridabad terror module and the blast case. The searches began around 5 am, and the trustees of the university are also being raided, reported news agency, citing sources.

Till now, the NIA has arrested two persons, allegedly close aides of "suicide bomber" Dr Umar Nabi.

The Al Falah varsity is located in the Dhouj area of Faridabad district in Haryana near Delhi, and it is a medical college-cum-hospital.

On Monday, the Delhi Police Crime Branch registered two separate cases against Al Falah University. The police will question Al Falah University founder Jawad in connection with the two FIRs registered against the university. The police had already sent him a formal notice in connection with the matter, reported ANI.

One FIR alleges that the institution lured students into admissions by falsely claiming a UGC 12B certificate on its official website, while the second FIR pertains to the university accepting admissions despite its National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation having expired in 2018. The cases have been filed under charges of cheating and forgery.

Meanwhile, the death toll in the Delhi blast rose to 15 on Monday. Several others were also injured in the November 10 explosion near the Red Fort. At around 6:52 pm on November 10, Dr Nabi detonated his explosives-laden car in the crowded area near the historical monument.
