CPI (ML) MP Sudama Prasad's Wife Found With 2 EPIC Cards, Leader Clarifies His Position

Patna: Even as RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav is already under scanner for allegedly having two EPIC cards, it has come to fore that CPI (ML) MP from Ara, Sudama Prasad’s wife Shobha Devi, also has two EPIC cards.

Sudama Prasad Explains His Position

Explaining his position, Prasad, who had defeated BJP heavyweight and union minister R K Singh from Arrah constituency in the last Lok Sabha election, told FPJ that his wife had contested the Bihar municipal election from Ara in 2022.   She is holding an EPIC card with her address at Pawna in Bhojpur district, while another EPIC card has an Ara address. 

Prasad said that his wife wanted to keep the EPIC card issued with the Ara address, and get her EPIC number with the Pawna address cancelled, but she didn't cancel it as the BLO concerned was delayed in visiting his family during the first phase of the SIR (special intensive revision of the electoral rolls). She is a voter at booth number 189 at Pawna village under Agiaon assembly constituency.

He said that he had met Bhojpur DM on July 15 as the latter advised him to get his wife`s EPIC card cancelled from one of the places during the claims and objections period, which started from August 1. Now, she will keep an EPIC card with the Ara address and get the EPIC card with the Pawna address cancelled, as the official formalities for it will be completed soon, he added. 

Sudama Prasad's wife, Shobha Devi, allegedly had two voter ID cards, RGX 3264140 and WVA 0308544.

CPI (ML) MP had also filed a petition against the SIR of the electoral rolls in the Supreme Court.
