CISF Jawan Opens Fire On Colleagues With AK-47 Rifle In J&K’s Kathua, 4 Killed

Four personnel, including an Assistant Commandant and Sub-Inspector, were killed. A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel opened fire on his colleagues following an argument at the Sewa Power Project in Mashka village of Basohli, Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district.
The incident took place at around 6:40 pm at the CISF unit deployed at the hydroelectric project. The four victims were identified as Assistant Commandant Ankit Kumar Pandey, Sub-Inspector Lakshman Singh, Constable Rafiq Ahmed and Constable Sandeep Kumar.
The suspected shooter, identified as Head Constable Avdesh Kumar Singh, allegedly entered the office premises and opened indiscriminate fire with his issued AK-47 rifle. According to the CISF, he was carrying 150 rounds of ammunition.
The injured personnel were taken to an NHPC hospital in Himachal Pradesh for treatment, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
Police reached the site and secured the area. Avdesh Kumar Singh was arrested and handed over to the police. The CISF has also initiated an internal inquiry into the incident.
