Raipur: A Kolkata bound indigo flight having 187 passengers on board was forced to make an emergency landing at the Raipur airport on Thursday morning after one of the passengers intimated the crew member about presence of live "bomb" on the aircraft, officials said.

After landing at the airport in capital city Raipur, the aeroplane was thoroughly checked by a joint security force team including CISF, Raipur police, bomb defusing squad, but nothing suspicious was found in the flight. After the bomb threat was found as a hoax call, police lodged a complaint against the passenger under the provisions of Aviation Act 1992 and by arresting him sent to jail.

The flight 6E-812, with 187 passengers and six crew members on board, landed at the Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur sometime after 9 am following the passenger's claim about the bomb in the plane Raipur SSP Santosh Singh told media.

After full sanitation the bomb in the flight concluded into a hoax call and finally police arrested the passenger, the SSP said.  

The accused was identified as Animesh Mandal, resident of Nagpur.

The Kolkata bound Indigo flight, flown from Nagpur was diverted towards Raipur in mid immediately the matter was informed to the Air Traffic Control. Upon landing, the aircraft was immediately taken to the isolation bay for mandatory security checks and during the inspection no bomb was found, the officer said.

Officers at working at Raipur airport, some flights get delayed due to the hoax call but after the issue was over the focus was put on to restoration of the flight scheduled operations.
