'Can't Buy Daughter's Insulin': Debt-Ridden UP Businessman Shoots Self With Security Guard's Gun After Posting Video On Facebook In Lucknow

A real estate dealer facing financial difficulties died by suicide on Thursday in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Before taking the extreme step, the man expressed his despair in a Facebook video, stating that he could no longer afford insulin for his diabetic daughter.
According to reports, the man shot himself in his office using a security guard’s firearm. The victim has been identified as Shahzeb Shakeel.
In his video, the businessman had appealed to celebrities and industrialists for support, saying he could no longer cope with mounting financial pressures. After seeing the Facebook live, his family alerted the police, but by the time officers arrived, he had already taken his own life.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was under severe financial stress, with outstanding debts amounting to crores of rupees.
A case has been registered under relevant legal provisions, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the incident, including how he obtained the guard’s weapon.
