Kolkata: Tripura deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma during his visit to Kolkata said that BJP will again form the government in Tripura in 2023.

“BJP is confident of coming to power again in the coming assembly polls as it is an organized party and works hard for development. The CPI (M) has become a coffee house party and their presence is felt in limited forums. The Trinamool Congress could do anything in Tripura despite several attempts,” said Varma during his visit to the city to attend the 3rd edition of event “Empowering Energizing East – E3” organized by Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA).

Speaking about the development works done by the BJP government, Varma said that BJP has taken massive electrification programmes to reach electricity even in remote places of Tripura.

“The Tripura government and other north eastern states are investing in the power sector to increase revenue generation along with power distribution to the remotest place. 24 hours power supply remains a challenge which we are tackling by creating new benchmarks. Power is the main source of revenue for Tripura. We export power to Bhutan and even last year we gave power to Bangladesh,” said the deputy Tripura Chief Minister.

It can be noted that in the recently concluded bypolls in four Assembly constituencies in Tripura on June 23 BJP won three out of four constituencies. One seat of Agartala Assembly was won by Congress and security deposit has been forfeited for both CPI (M) and TMC.
