In shocking news, a Bengaluru techie and his wife died by suicide after poisoning their two children. The city police are investigating the case as a suspected murder-suicide.
According to news agency PTI, the deceased have been identified as Anup Kumar (38), his wife Rakhi (35), and their two children, aged 5 and 2.
The family, originally from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, had been living in a rented home. Anup Kumar worked as a software consultant at a private firm.
On Monday morning, when the family's house help arrived for work, she did not receive a response from any family members despite repeated attempts. Sensing something was amiss, she alerted the neighbors, who then notified the police.
Upon reaching the spot, the police entered the house and discovered the bodies of all four family members.
According to the police, the initial investigation suggests that the couple poisoned their children before taking their own lives by hanging.
The couple was distressed due to the health condition of their elder child. The family’s house help stated that Anupriya, their elder child, had special needs and required constant care, as per reports.
The police also noted that the couple had been planning a holiday in Pondicherry, and packing for the trip had already been completed on Sunday.
As per an NDTV report, the police have not recovered any suicide note from the residence.
