Bengaluru Police Intercept Car Carrying ₹9 Crore To Tamil Nadu Based On IT Tip-Off
Bengaluru Police intercepted a Kerala-registered car near Electronic City and seized ₹9 crore unaccounted cash following an Income Tax Department tip-off. One occupant, identified as Tuticorin jeweller Sachin, was found linked to another ₹1.3 crore cash recovery from his premises. IT officials are probing the source of the money.

Bengaluru, Aug 21: Based on a tip-off from the Income Tax department, Bengaluru police have intercepted a Kerala-registered car carrying ₹9 crore unaccounted cash near Electronic City, which was heading towards Hosur.
One of the two persons travelling in the car has been identified as Sachin, a jeweller from Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu, and the IT officials, after raiding his premises, have recovered additional ₹1.3 crore unaccounted cash.
Cash seizure during check
The incident took place on Aug 18 night at around 10.30 pm, when the Kerala-registered Hyundai Creta car passed through the Electronic City toll gate near Electronic City. The IT Unit 22 Deputy Director Jagadish tipped off the police about the huge amount of cash being transported in the Kerala-registered car. The beat constables stopped the car and found ₹9 crore cash, all in ₹500 denominations, in the car.
The car occupants tried to tell the police that the money belonged to them and were taking it to purchase land. By then, the IT officials arrived and started asking questions about the accounts for the money.
Jeweller linked to cash
It was learnt that Sachin (42), one of the occupants of the car, owned Sindhu Jewellers at Tuticorin, and the identity of the other passenger is yet to be released.
When Sachin's premises were raided, the IT officials recovered another ₹1.3 crore unaccounted money.
