Attacks On Hindu Temples And Priests Continue In Bangladesh, ISKCON Urges Protection For Minorities

Kolkata: After a priest of Kali temple in Bangladesh’s Nator was found dead in a mysterious situation, ISKCON once again urges the interim-government of Bangladesh to ensure protection of minorities.

Radharaman Das, ISKCON Kolkata vice president said that the ‘violence’ should come to an end.

“The video which surfaced shows that the priest Tarun Chandra Das' hands and legs are tied. It means he was subjected to tremendous torture before he was killed. Utensils and money were also looted from the temple. After the Foreign Secretary level meeting took place, we thought that the atrocities would be stopped. But the vandalism and attacks on Hindus again started. It should come to an end,” said Das, also mentioning that even the Hindu crematoriums are not safe in Bangladesh.

Radharaman Das also urged the interim-government to ensure safe celebration of Christmas there.

“Soon Christmas vacation will start and the Christians over there should also get protection while celebrating the festival there. In Parliament we saw that information is given that 2200 attacks took place on minorities in Bangladesh in the past few months. This is really appalling,” further added Das.

Notably, apart from a purported video of the priest of Nator’s Samshan Kali temple some pictures of vandalised Hindu idol from Mymensingh of Bangladesh were also seen. However, the Free Press Journal didn’t verify the purported video.

Gouranga Das, Governing body commissioner, ISKCON also urged the interim-government of Bangladesh to allow the minorities in Bangladesh to practice their religious beliefs.

“Everyone has the right to practice their religion. I urge that the present government in Bangladesh should ensure safety and security to minorities. The reports of attack are unacceptable,” added Gouranga Das.

It can be recalled that arrested monk Chinmoy Krishna Das is still in jail custody till January 2.

Apart from the attacks on the minorities, ISKCON has also shown its worry about the arrest monk’s health.
