Horrific Accident: 6 Children Killed, 20 Injured After School Bus Over-Turns In Haryana's Narnaul

In a tragic mishap, at least six children were killed and 13 others injured after a school bus carrying 30 children overturned near a village in Mahendergarh district in Haryana on Thursday morning. The bus belonging to G L Public School in Kanina sub-division was involved in the mishap when it was on its way to the school after picking up children from their houses. They were mostly Students from Class 4 to Class 10.

According to a preliminary report, the driver happened to be drunk; he tried to overtake another vehicle but lost control and the bus overturned. He allegedly jumped out of the bus just before it rammed into a tree. He has been taken into custody along with the principal and the secretary of the trust that runs the school.

Even though passersby rushed to the spot and took out the injured children and rushed them to the nearby hospital, some of them were declared brought dead and some were found to be grievously injured. The school was open despite it being a holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The police said it was shocked to note that the bus fitness certificate had expired six years ago. The six children succumbed to their injuries in the hospital and the condition of at least two more was critical.

Even though eyewitnesses held that the driver was drunk, the police said his medical examination was underway.
