The honour celebrates her decades-long journey in the entertainment industry, where she has earned immense respect for her versatile performances and dedication to promoting Assamese art and culture.

Veteran Assamese actress Malaya Goswami has been selected for the Bhaben Award 2026 in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Assam's art, cinema and cultural heritage. It is instituted by the Nalbari District Committee of the Asom Jatyatabai Yuva-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) in memory of eminent theatre personality Bhaben Baruah. The award has been presented annually since 2009 to distinguished personalities for their exceptional contribution to the fields of art and culture. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 15,000, along with a memento, xorai (sacred offering tray from Assam), gamosa (silk textile) and cheleng.

About Malaya Goswami
Malaya Goswami has been a familiar face in Assamese films, television, and stage productions for several decades. She began her acting career at a young age and went on to feature in numerous critically acclaimed and commercially successful films. She marked her debut as an actress with the 1985 drama Sarbajan. Following her debut, she was seen playing a supporting role the same year in the Bhabendra Nath Saikia-directed Agnisnaan.
Beyond films, Goswami has also contributed extensively to Assamese television serials and theatre, helping preserve and promote the state's rich storytelling traditions.
