'This Movie Still Matters So Much To Me': Awarapan Director Mohit Suri Gives Shout-Out To Awarapan 2 Team Ahead Of Its Release

The Gen Z will remember Mohit Suri as the filmmaker who directed Saiyaara, but Millennials will always remember him for movies like Zeher, Woh Lamhe, Awarapan, Murder 2, Aashiqui 2, and others. Now, Awarapan 2 is all set to release soon, but Suri has not directed it. The movie is helmed by Nitin Kakkar, who is known for directing films like Filmistaan, Notebook, Jawaani Jaaneman, and others.

On Friday, Suri took to Instagram to share the trailer of Awarapan 2 and gave a shout-out to the film's team. He wrote, "This one feels special. Like a long-lost love, like an old friend you haven’t met in years but still deeply miss. 19 years later, and this movie still matters so much to me."

He further thanked Kakkar for bringing back something that is close to him and directing it with so much love, flourish, sensitivity, and heart.

He added, "To everyone who has worked on this film — most of you I know, have worked with before, and will continue to work with — you’ve done such a brilliant job. Watching this trailer brought back so many memories."

Message For Emraan Hashmi

Emraan and Suri worked together in films like Zeher, Kalyug, Awarapan, Raaz: The Mystery Continues, Crook, Murder 2, and Hamari Adhuri Kahani. For the actor, Suri wrote, "@therealemraan Emi, my hero — and always, always will be. I’m sure you have given this one your all, like you did for me 18 years back (sic)."

"Loved the trailer. All the very best to all of you. Everyone, go watch Awarapan 2 in cinemas on 14th August. 'Toh phir aao… mujhko satao… mujhko rulao' (sic)," he concluded.

Awarapan 2 Release Date

Awarapan 2, which also stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi, is slated to release on August 14, 2026.
