Karan V Grover on life after marriage with Poppy Jabbal: 'Both of us are extremely work-oriented'
In a candid conversation with The Free Press Journal, Karan speaks about his journey in the television industry, work-life balance post-marriage, and more

Actor Karan V Grover, who recently tied the knot with Poppy Jabbal, is back on set with his new show ‘Bohot Pyaar Karte Hai’ on Star Bharat. In a candid conversation with The Free Press Journal, Karan speaks about his journey in the television industry, work-life balance post-marriage, and more.
Karan, who rose to fame with shows like 'Saarrthi', 'Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli', and 'Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum' to name a few, has been working as an actor for nearly two decades. Looking back at his journey, he shares, “Life is a constant teacher. I have come to understand, learn and accept the flow of my life without me planning or trying to get ahead of myself. My life has a much better plan for me. It's the process that I learned to enjoy each and every day, and that's what makes working eventful and a very happy process for me.
He adds, “I have learned that you need to be disciplined. You have to be projected towards improving yourself every year. You've got to keep learning, adapting new ways, keep reading, traveling, and only then your journey as an artist can totally satisfy you, at least that's what I feel.”
Unlike his contemporaries, Karan didn’t push for a career in films. He says, “I don’t know about the effort they make or do to get into movies, some of them are also now producers, which I’m very proud of. But there’s a lot of work involved, there's a different level of planning, skill set, and teamwork needed which maybe I'm not up for yet. Secondly, I am not a very pushy guy. If movies are meant to happen in the same flow that I'm working, or in the way that I like to work, or with the people that I like to work, then I'll definitely do.”
Karan also tried his hand at OTT with the web series ‘Spotlight’. When asked why hasn’t he dabbled into more projects on the medium, he says that he always likes to see if the story is convincing, and the characters are entertaining irrespective of whether the content is bold or controversial.
He explains, “As and when things of OTT platform will come my way, which I feel I should be a part of, where I can make a difference to myself as an artist, I will definitely take them up. I would like to keep working all my life, I have never chosen the medium over work. Whatever the medium may be – Bollywood, Hollywood, OTT, or Television, I'm more than happy to just work and contribute in the best way I can.”
The newlywed actor has already resumed work despite being married for only a month. Says Karan, “Coming back to work was the best thing or best gift that happened. Post-marriage Poppy got to get back to promoting her show I got back to work with shooting my TV show. So, I think both of us are extremely work-oriented, it is the elixir of our lives and we would be more than happy if we can celebrate all our big moments in between.
Sharing his views on maintaining the work-life balance, Karan concludes, “To me personally, there's not much balance needed. Everything circles around my work schedules, my work out my family engagements. For all of us, work takes priority.”
