The development came while Spirit was already being filmed in Hyderabad, with reports suggesting that the decision followed issues that had arisen on set, leading to an unexpected change in the cast at that stage.

Now, finally, Prakash Raj reacted to the rumours of him quitting Spirit. Taking to his X handle (formerly Twitter) the actor wrote, "To all the toxic #Fakenews peddlers…. On #Spirit the movie. We have not even started shooting for my scenes, and you whatsup factories speculate stories. Grow up and have a life. #justasking."
Speaking to Hindustan Times, the 60-year-old actor said, "Some nonsense speculations these are. I am not aware of it," confirming that he was indeed part of the film and denying the rumours.
According to a report in OTT Play, the latest chatter suggested that things reportedly took an unexpected turn on set. Reports claimed that Prakash Raj and Vanga were involved in a heated disagreement, reportedly over the script and the execution of a particular scene. The situation is said to have escalated, which led to friction between the actor and the makers.
Adding to the speculation, it was also alleged that certain behavioural issues during the shoot did not sit well with the production team, eventually prompting the decision to part ways with the veteran actor.

The film had earlier sparked controversy over Deepika Padukone's alleged casting as the female lead and her reported demand for an eight-hour workday after becoming a new mother. Reports suggested that after Vanga denied her request, Deepika quit the film and was subsequently replaced by Triptii Dimri.
