Singer Mustafa Zahid To Record Tera Mera Rishta For Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 Amid Boycott Of Pakistani Artists In India: Report

Emraan Hashmi-starrer Awarapan 2 is undoubtedly one of the most-awaited films of the year. The movie also stars Shabana Azmi and Disha Patani in the lead roles. On Thursday, the film's trailer was released, and it received a positive response. Pakistani singer Mustafa Zahid had sung songs for Awarapan, and now, according to a report, the makers are planning to rope in the singer to record the new version of the track Tera Mera Rishta.

A source told Mid-day, "Should the deal materialise, it will mark one of the rare instances in recent years of a Pakistani playback singer recording for a mainstream Hindi film." The source revealed that the song won't be used in the movie, as that might create trouble for the film during certification. So, the makers are only planning to use it on social media for promotions.

The source added, "The professional reunion is awaiting approval from both parties at this stage." According to the report, the makers are planning to record the song in Dubai.

Till now, neither Mustafa nor the makers of the film have shared any statement regarding the report.

Pakistani Artists Banned From Working In India

After the Uri attack in 2016, many film bodies in India decided to ban Pakistani artists from working in Indian movies. However, in 2023, the Bombay High Court dismissed a petition that sought a complete legal ban on artists from Pakistan working in Indian films.

Last year, two films, Sardaar Ji 3 and Aabeer Gulaal, featured Pakistani actors Hania Aamir and Fawad Khan, respectively, and they were not released in India.

New Version Of Tera Mera Rishta

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the makers also released the audio of Tera Mera Rishta's new version, which is composed by Mithoon, Mustafa Zahid, and Pritam, and sung by Saaj Bhatt and Subodhh Sharma.

Awarapan 2 Release Date

Awarapan 2 is slated to release on August 14, 2026.
