Veteran lyricist and Bollywood screenwriter Javed Akhtar once again lashed out at a social media user after he congratulated and praised cricketer Virat Kohli after Team India's impressive win against Australia on Tuesday (March 4). The Indian cricket team has been receiving congratulatory messages after beating Australia in the semifinals of the 2025 Champions Trophy at the Dubai International Stadium.

Akhtar was also amongst several Bollywood celebrities who lauded the historic win.

Taking to his official X account on Wednesday, Akhtar wrote, "Once again Virat has proved that he is the strongest pillar of today’s Indian cricket’ s edifice!!! Hats off!!" However, he did not mention any other cricketer's name.

Reacting to his post, a netizen wrote, "If Virat is strongest pillar then who is Rohit Sharma? Heaviest pillar? Shame on you Javed saab for fat shaming Indian captain."

Akhtar was in no mood to ignore the troll and the 'lie'. Minutes after the user shared the post, the lyricist replied, "Shut up you cockroach. I have great respect for Rohit sharma and all the great India cricketers of Test history . What kind of a neech And pathatic lair you are that you are claiming that I have ever said a word against dignity of a great player like Rohit . Kabhi socho tum itnay ghatia aur ganday aadmi kyon ho (sic)."

This comes after Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed's critical remarks and fat-shaming of Rohit Sharma sparked a massive row.

Meanwhile, another user asked Akhtar, "Are you ready to prove your nationalism again? 🤣🤣" To this, he replied, "I am a cricket lover and pigmies like you can not stop me from showing my joy when my team wins or any of our players gives a great performance."

He added, "As far as nationalism is concerned why would I prove it to people like you since you and your past generations have nothing to do with it . you don’t understand even the meanings of this word."

Last week too Akhtar came down heavily on a netizen after the latter took a dig at former Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam while commenting on his tweet. Akhtar had shared a tweet lauding Team India batsman Virat Kohli for his sensational century during the India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy match.

As Kohli smashed his 100* against Pakistan, Akhtar took to his X handle and wrote, "Virat Kohli, zindabad!!! We all are so so so proud of you!!! (sic)."

While most netizens liked his tweet and shared the same sentiment, a netizen with the handle 'Himanshu Jain (Modi ka Parivar)' replied to Akhtar, "Javed, Babar ka baap Kohli hai. Bolo Jai Shri Ram (sic)."

This did not go down well with Akhtar who spared no time in responding, "Maen to sirf yeh kahoonga ke tum eik neech insaan ho aur neech hi marogay. Tum kya jano desh prem kya hota hai (sic)."

The 80-year-old lyricist often shuts trolls with befitting replies on social media.
