'She Hit Below The Belt': Sardaar Ji 3 Co-Producer SLAMS Hania Aamir's Comment On Operation Sindoor Amid Film Release Row
Amid the controversy surrounding Pakistani actress Hania Aamir's role in Sardaar Ji 3, the film's co-producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu stated that her comment on Operation Sindoor was "below the belt". "They should not have made such statements," he said. Hania had called Operation Sindoor "cowardly attack" by India on Pakistan post the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

The much-talked-about film, Sardaar Ji 3, released in theatres outside India on June 27, and it has courted a massive controversy in the country as it features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir opposite singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh. While the makers stated that the film was made before the Pahalgam attack and that they cannot afford the financial loss if the film gets junked, its co-producer has now criticised Hania for her comments post Operation Sindoor.
For those unversed, Hania had called Operation Sindoor a "cowardly attack" by India on Pakistan. Reacting to it, Sardaar Ji 3’s co-producer Gunbir Singh Sidhu told NDTV that the remark was indeed not acceptable, but they had no other option than releasing the film.
"I believe that they should not have made such statements. But I cannot comment more than that. But I would say that those things should not have happened and she hit below the belt," he said.
Sidhu added that while they are releasing Sardaar Ji 3 overseas despite the backlash, they have decided to not work with any Pakistani artist henceforth.
Indian film bodies seek ban on Diljit Dosanjh
Diljit Dosanjh too reiterated in an interview with BBC that Sardaar Ji 3 was shot before the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, and that he was only supporting the film's release so that the producers do not incur losses.
But the Indian audience and film bodies are not convinced with Diljit's explanation, and FWICE demanded a complete ban on the singer in India. The AICWA wrote a letter to PM Modi demanding an investigation into the funding of Sardaar Ji 3.
Diljit to be removed from Border 2?
Meanwhile, reports have surfaced online that Diljit, who will be next seen in the patriotic film Border 2, has been removed from the project following the backlash.
However, a source informed Hindustan Times that the makers are in no mood to oust Diljit from Border 2 and that the shooting will continue at the National Defence Academy in Pune as per schedule.
