Amid Bollywood's slow run in theatres, Saiyaara's success came as a welcome surprise, especially when the actors did not go all out with promotional gimmicks and interviews. In fact, the only handful of interviews that have been given were that by director Mohit Suri, while Ahaan and Aneet stayed away from the limelight till the film's release.
The major contributor to the film's success has to be its music, and the fact that people drew comparisons between Saiyaara and Aashiqui 2, which has a cult status among the millennials. It is safe to say that with Saiyaara, the GenZ are having their very own Aashiqui 2 moment. The dearth of heartbreaking, cliched Bollywood romance also seems to be another reason behind people thronging theatres to watch Saiyaara.
Theatres have been rendered houseful and national chains are adding early morning and midnight shows to meet the high demand for the film.
