Bengali actress Aindrila Sharma breathed her last on November 20 after battling for life on ventilator for the past few days.

Aindrila was also a cancer survivor.

While the sudden death of the 24-year-old has left the Bengali television and film industry shellshocked, the doctors treating Aindrila have now revealed the real reason behind her demise.

In a statement released by Narayana Superspeciality Hospital in Howrah, where Aindrila was being treated till her last breath, the doctors stated that she died due to a cardiac arrrest as well as complications due to cancer.

"Ms Aindrila Sharma was brought to Emergency of Narayana Superspeciality Hospital on 01/11/2022 afternoon in a comatose condition. She was a known patient of Ewing's sarcomat treated with surgery and chemoradiation earlier. She was immediately intubated and put on ventilator. Her CT scan of brain showed a massive hemorrhage inside the left half of brain. She was immediately shifted to operation theatre and our Neurosurgeon performed a critical surgery to remove the brain hemorrhage," the statement read.

"The biopsy showed she was having brain metastases from Ewing's sarcoma. Metastatic Ewing's sarcoma is an extremely fatal disease with very poor prognosis. She was seen by a combined team of Neurosurgeon, Neurologist, Critical Care specialist, Infectious disease specialist, Medical Oncologist, Radiologist and Radiation Oncologist. The entire medical team worked tirelessly to make her recover," it continued.

"Though still on ventilator she was showing signs of recovery after surgery. 10 days after the surgery she developed a massive stroke in the left side of her brain. Later she developed stroke on the right side of brain also. The probable cause of these strokes seems the underlying malignancy. Her conscious level dropped and ventilator support had to be increased. Day in and day out our doctors tried their best to treat her. We also gladly accepted the family's request for consultation by doctors from other hospitals so as to leave no stone unturned in our effort to treat her," the statement added.

"She remained critical and had episodes of cardiac arrests which were reverted by prompt intervention by our specialist doctors. Her family also supported us in these trying times with their full co operation and trust on our hospital and treating doctors. But, unfortunately despite of our best efforts she suffered Cardiac arrest today and she succumbed to this dreaded disease and has been declared dead today on 20.11.22 at 12.59 pm. We deeply regret the loss and extend our full support to her family and friends in such troubled times," the doctors concluded.

Tributes have been pouring in for Aindrila from all corners of not only India, but also Bangladesh, where she had garnered a massive fan following.

Aindrila's family and her boyfriend Sabyasachi Chowdhury are yet to release an official statement yet.

On the professional front, Aindrila featured in television shows like 'Jibon Jyoti' and 'Jiyon Kathi', besides other OTT projects.
