Actor Prosenjit Chatterjee's sister robbed of Rs. 10 lakh in cyber crime

Around 9.7 lakhs to be approximate have gone missing in an unauthorised transaction from actress Pallavi Chatterjee's account. Pallavi, also sister to Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee.

Faking a death claim, the transaction was carried out from Pallavi's public provident fund account that she holds with a prviate bank. The actress learnt about the said dealings only after she sent her assistant to the bank to deposit money into her account, on her behalf, some days back.

Following a registered complaint at Kolkata's Karaya police station, officials investigated into the matter and learnt from the bank that the actress was informed about the said transaction being authorised on the basis of a death claim. As of now, the police haven't been able to track the recipients to whose account the money has been transferred to.

In her defense, Pallavi claims, I have been depositing funds in this account and was suddenly informed that my account has been closed. After a couple of days, the bank informed me the amount has been transferred to a savings bank on the basis of a death claim. But the bank has not been able to find out the account to which the money was transferred or the account-holder's name."

As of now, the investigation is ongoing.
