Kanye West, known as 'Ye,' is an American rapper and record producer, widely recognized as a leading figure in the hip-hop industry, has deactivated his X (formerly Twitter) account once more, deleting it on Sunday during the Super Bowl. His exit from X came after a contentious Super Bowl advertisement that evoked memories among numerous social media users of the Joker’s sinister messages in the Batman movies.
In recent days, the rapper faced criticism for publicly referring to himself as a Nazi and expressing antisemitic views in various online posts. He had likewise shown backing for Sean "Diddy" Combs, who is now in federal detention. Prior to turning off his X account, West expressed gratitude to Elon Musk for enabling him to voice his opinions, likening his experience on the platform to a spiritual odyssey. He concluded his message with, "Good afternoon and goodnight."
West's exit from X occurred just after his surprising Super Bowl advertisement was shown across the country. In the advertisement, he asserted that he had invested all the production funds into his new dental procedure and therefore recorded the commercial using only an iPhone. He urged audiences to check out his website, Yeezy.com.
A user on X noted that the advertisement mirrored a moment from The Dark Knight, featuring the Joker conveying a chaotic message to Gotham City. Additional users participated by sharing side-by-side comparisons of Kanye’s advertisement and Heath Ledger’s depiction of the antagonist.
Prior to the disappearance of West's account, X had issued a warning on his profile, notifying users that it held "potentially sensitive content." This action was probably a reaction to his recent antisemitic remarks.
In a post, West stated, "I am a Nazi." which intensified the anger. He also requested Diddy’s release from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, calling the fallen rapper his "brother."
After this succession of contentious remarks, West’s X account received a warning, and ultimately, he decided to remove it on his own. His exit from the platform represents yet another episode in his history of unpredictable online conduct.
