India's Got Latent Row: SC Refuses To Release Ranveer Allahbadia's Passport, To Consider Application After Investigation

The Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to release Ranveer Allahbadia's passport, in the India's Got Latent row, stating his plea would be considered after the investigation. The court also denied Ashish Chanchlani’s passport release. The probe will conclude in two weeks, with the next hearing on April 21. In a major development, the Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to release the passport of popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia who is under investigation for his 'sex with parents' comment on 'India's Got Latent' show.

They stated that the Youtube's application will be considered after the conclusion of investigation into the controversial remarks. The court also refused to release the passport of another YouTuber - Ashish Chanchalani who was also part of the judges panel in the show hosted by comedian Samay Raina.

The probe will be completed in two weeks and the next hearing is scheduled on April 21. Allahbadia's plea to travel abroad will be considered only after the investigation concludes. Earlier,

Senior advocate Abhinav Chandrachud, representing Allahbadia in his plea before the court, senior, sought a modification in the condition for depositing his passport, saying that it affected his livelihood.

In February, Allahadbia sparked controversy by appearing in an episode of Samay Raina's India's Got Latent, which also featured Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani, where his controversial remark about 'watching parents have sex,' sparked massive outrage.

After Ranveer's crass remark, he also received backlash, followed by multiple FIRs against the makers and those present on the show.

In March, the court allowed Ranveer to resume filming his podcast, The Ranveer Show on the condition that he adheres to general standards of morality and decency.

On Monday, Ranveer released his first podcast episode following the Latent controversy, where he invited guest Buddhist monk Palga Rinpoche. He also mentioned that some advised him to take a break from content creation for a year or two.

On Sunday, Allahbadia shared his first post on his social media handle days after the controversy and wrote, "Thank you to my loved ones. Thank you universe. A new blessed chapter begins - Rebirth."

Ranveer in a new video on his YouTube channel, apologised to those he let down after his controversial remark on India’s Got Latent. He promised a 'fresh start' and vowed to be more mindful of the content he creates moving forward.

He said, "First of all, thank you to all my supporters and well-wishers. Your positive messages helped me and my family a lot. This phase was very difficult... I openly received violent threats, so much of online hatred, so many media articles... we went through a lot, but in the midst of it all, your DMs helped us a lot."
