'I Never Give My Actors Chance To Complain': Anurag Basu Supports Deepika Padukone's 8-Hour Shift Demand

Director Anurag Basu, whose recently released film Metro... In Dino, a spiritual sequel to Life In A... Metro, which hit the theatres a few days ago and has been receiving widespread praise. Now, the director now come out in support of Deepika Padukone over her alleged demand for an 8-hour work shift. The demand, which surfaced after the birth of her daughter Dua, has sparked a heated discussion in the industry about working conditions for actresses post-motherhood. It was reportedly denied by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, leading to Deepika’s exit from the film.

Speaking to Firstpost, Anurag said that he agrees with Deepika. He added, "I also don’t like long hours shift at work. My actors never complain about long hours or stress at work. So, I absolutely agree to what Deepika Padukone had to say. It’s a film, I never give my actors a chance to complain on this."

Basu Prioritises His Actors Happiness

He stated that he wants his actors to be 'very happy' on his set and to have a strong understanding of their characters. He shared that he doesn’t provide too much information before the shoot begins, as he prefers to let them discover their roles organically, a method he has been following for years

Earlier, several actors from the film industry, including Neha Dhupia, Vikrant Massey, Kajol, Chitrangda Singh, and Sonakshi Sinha, spoke up in support of Deepika's demand.

After Deepika's exit from Spirit, she recently joined Atlee's Telugu film alongside Allu Arjun.

This film marks her second collaboration with Atlee, following their previous work on the 2023 hit Jawan, which featured Shah Rukh Khan in the lead.
