Guru Dutt 100th Birth Anniversary: Pyaasa, Aar Paar & 3 Other Films Of Actor To Re-Release In Theatres In August - Details Inside

To mark the birth centenary of legendary filmmaker and actor Guru Dutt, a nationwide theatrical retrospective of his most iconic films will be held across India from August 8 to 10. The initiative, led by Ultra Media & Entertainment Group in association with NFDC-NFAI, will see over 250 cinemas screen newly restored versions of five of Guru Dutt's films: Pyaasa, Aar Paar, Chaudhvin Ka Chand, Mr. & Mrs. 55, and Baaz.

These classics, now restored in 4K, are being reintroduced for modern audiences, including film students, cinephiles, and newer generations unfamiliar with Guru Dutt's work. While his legacy has long been acknowledged in Indian cinema history, this is a rare opportunity to experience his films on the big screen.

Leading the line-up is Pyaasa (1957), often hailed as one of India's greatest films. Other titles include noir-infused Aar Paar, the romantic Chaudhvin Ka Chand, satirical rom-com Mr. & Mrs. 55, and the period drama Baaz, Guru Dutt's directorial debut.
