'Fanboy' Atlee Congratulates Shah Rukh Khan After National Film Award Win For Jawan: 'I'm Super Happy & Emotional'

Jawan director Atlee, on Saturday (August 2) congratulated superstar Shah Rukh Khan for winning the National Film Award for Best Actor for their blockbuster collaboration. The winners were announced by the jury on Friday, marking a special moment for the team behind the high-octane action drama which released in 2023.

Taking to his official Instagram account, Atlee shared a couple of behind-the-scenes photos with Shah Rukh from the sets of Jawan and penned a long, emotional note, calling the experience of working with the actor a "blessing" and "the most important moment" of his life.

Atlee also said that he is SRK's 'fanboy' for life. "Feeling blessed, @iamsrk sir. I’m super happy that you’ve got the National Award for our movie Jawan. It feels very emotional and inspiring to be part of your journey. Thank you for trusting me and giving this film, sir. It’s just my first love letter to you; a lot more to come," Atlee wrote.

He also extended his gratitude to Gauri Khan, Red Chillies Entertainment, and the entire production team for backing the film. Atlee didn’t forget to acknowledge the music team and gave a special shout-out to composer Anirudh Ravichander and singer Shilpa Rao, who won a National Award for the song Chaleya from Jawan.

"Super, super, super happy for @shilparao to get one more national award for Chaleya. I feel so, so happy and emotional," he added.

Calling Shah Rukh Khan his idol, Atlee further said, "As a fanboy, working with you and making a film and presenting it in a mass mode of SRK, sir, is a pure blessing from God. God is so kind to give us this moment in life. Can’t ask for more. I’m the best fanboy of yours, sir."

The 71st National Film Awards winners were announced on Friday. Shah Rukh and Vikrant Massey won the Best Actor award for their performances in Jawan and 12th Fail, respectively. Rani Mukerji won the Best Actress award for her performance in Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway.

Meanwhile, Vikrant's 12th Fail received the Best Feature Film award and Sanya Malhotra's Kathal won the Best Hindi Film award.
