Yash Chopra's wife Pamela Chopra passes away at 74

Legendary Bollywood filmmaker Yash Chopra's wife Pamela Chopra passed away on Thursday, April 20.

Pamela is the mother of filmmaker Aditya Chopra and actor Uday Chopra.

She breathed her last at a Mumbai hospital at the age of 74.

According to reports, Pamela passed away due to age-related illnesses. She was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati hospital for the past 15 days.

She was put on ventilator by the doctors, but her health further deteriorated and she passed away on Thursday.

She was cremated in the presence of her family members on Thursday morning itself.

The family released an official statement which read, "With heavy hearts, the Chopra family would like to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11 am today in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to request for privacy in this moment of deep sadness and reflection."

Several celebrities mourned Pamela's demise and offered their condolences to the Chopra family.

Pamela was the wife of stalwart filmmaker Yash Chopra. She was an Indian playback singer and also a film writer and producer in her own rights.

Pamela and Yash Chopra tied the knot in 1970. Their families met through a common friend and it was an arranged marriage.

Pamela has sung songs for several hit films including 'Kabhie Kabhie', 'Noorie', 'Kaala Patthar', 'Silsila', 'Chandni', 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', and 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge!'.

She has also been credited as the writer for 'Kabhie Kabhie', and dress designer for films like 'Silsila' and 'Sawaal'.
