The Kerala Story Row: Birthday girl Adah Sharma sings Shiv Tandav stotram, says 'The energy that allows me to face bans'

Bollywood actress Adah Sharma, who plays the lead in the controversial film 'The Kerala Story', was recently seen performing a puja for Lord Shiva in a temple.

The actress also addressed the ban calls against 'The Kerala Story' and stated that worshipping the Lord gives her energy to face the bans.

'The Kerala Story' has sparked a political uproar in the country with several politicians accusing the film of spreading hate against a particular community.

Adah Sharma visits Shiva temple amid 'The Kerala Story' controversy

On Thursday morning, Adah took to her Instagram handle to share a video of herself performing the Shiv Tandav stotram and worshipping Lord Shiva inside a temple.

The actress can be seen herself reciting the stotram as she performed the numerous rituals of the puja.

"The secret of my energy. The energy that allows me to accept bouquets and face bans 🙃❤️🙏Thank you all of you for making me yours," Adah wrote along with the video.

'The Kerala Story' controversy

'The Kerala Story' is said to tell the true story of three women from the southern state who were tricked into joining the ISIS in Iraq and Syria through the means of love jihad.

Several political leaders have called for a total ban on the film. In fact, the West Bengal government has already banned the film in the state citing law and order issues. In Tamil Nadu, threatre owners have refused to screen the film as protests have erupted against it.

On the other hand, the Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh governments have declared the film tax-free to encourage more people to watch it in theatres.

'The Kerala Story' has become one of the highest grossers of 2023 so far with box office collection over Rs 50 crore in just five days.
