The much-hyped film 'Liger', which also marked the Bollywood debut of south sensation Vijay Deverakonda, has miserably failed at the box office, resulting in heavy losses for the producers.
'Liger' was made on a budget of Rs 100 crore, and now, according to a report in News18, Vijay has decided to return a whopping Rs 6 crore to the producers as the film tanked at the ticket windows.
The report stated that the star will return the major chunk from his remuneration for the film to producer Charmme Kaur and the other co-producers of 'Liger'.
Not just that, but the box office failure of 'Liger' has also resulted in the slashing of budget for Vijay's next film 'Jana Gana Mana'. The film is also set to be helmed by 'Liger' director Puri Jagannadh, and the actor-director duo has decided to let go of their salaries for the film.
If reports are to be believed, Vijay may later take a chunk of the profits if 'Jana Gana Mana' tastes success at the box office.
Meanwhile, 'Liger' also starred Ananya Panday opposite Vijay. The film received poor reviews from audiences and critics alike, and even after promotions on a massive scale, it could not secure a place for itself in the theatres.
