'Unworthy of having Muslim name': Sara Ali Khan brutally trolled for Mahashivratri post, fans defend her

Actress Sara Ali Khan shared a series of pictures from her visit to different Shiva temples on the occasion of Mahashivratri on Saturday. Along with the photos on Instagram, she wrote, "Jai Bholenath."

In one of the photos, Sara is seen sitting in front of Lord Shiva's idol with chandan on her forehead. In another photo, she is seen posing in front of a Shiva temple with folded hands.

Sara brutally trolled for her post

However, the 'Kedarnath' actress was brutally trolled by a section of social media users who took offence to her post. She received several hateful and abusive comments on her post.

While some of them called her 'improper Muslim', others said that she was 'unworthy of having a Muslim name'.

"Ye ummid to nhi thi saara jii name change krlo ap Muslim se kafir ho gyi aap," read a comment under Sara's post.

Fans defend Sara

On the other hand, fans came out in support of the actress and lauded her. "Other soo called hindu actresses never posted photos of mahashivratri ...hats of to u Sara .. respect," a user commented.

Another comment read, "I'm also a Muslim but Kya farq parta hai uski pics rakhje se aapka faith nahi khrb horaha hai to bas ... Awse he agar woh dargah ki pics rakhegi to Kisi Hindu ko farq nahi parna chahiye.. that's all."

Sara's upcoming projects

Meanwhile, on the work front, Sara is gearing up for her new movie, Murder Mubarak, with director Homi Adajania.

She will also be seen in Gaslight opposite Vikrant Massey and in Laxman Utekar's next opposite Vicky Kaushal. She also has the Prime Video project Ae Watan Mere Watan among other projects in the pipeline.
