Shefali Shah says she was touched inappropriately in market: 'Felt shameful'

She also went on to say that instead of shoving such conversations under the carpet, people must speak up and normalise it for victims to raise their voice.

Actress Shefali Shah, who is known for being a part of some of the most powerful female-centric films, recently recalled the time she was inappropriately touched in a public place.

Shefali revealed that she never spoke to anyone about it and that the incident made her feel like "crap".

She also went on to say that instead of shoving such conversations under the carpet, people must speak up and normalise it for victims to raise their voice.

Shefali Shah recalls horrifying incident

During a podcast with ANI, Shefali recalled her horrific experience when she was inappropriately touched at a market.

"Everyone’s gone through it. I remember walking in a crowded market and being touched inappropriately and feeling crap about it. And, never ever saying anything because I wouldn’t say it was guilt but it’s just…shameful."

She went on to say that most of the victims think if they did something to invite it. "You feel guilty, shameful and you feel bhool jao. Shove it under the carpet kind of thing," the actress said.

Shefali Shah's work front

On the work front, Shefali has headlined some of the most popular female-led films and web shows.

She is best known for playing a cop named Vartika Chaturvedi in the web series 'Delhi Crime', which was loosely based on the Nirbhaya rape case in its first season and the chaddi-baniyan gang in the second season.

She was also seen playing Alia Bhatt's mother in the OTT film 'Darlings' for which she received immense appreciation.
