With his Hindi OTT debut nearing its premiere date, Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee is all set to star in 'Jubilee', the latest offering from the Amazon Prime Video vault. During his ongoing promotional trail for the same, the actor confessed to have been offered 'Maine Pyar Kiya' (1989), which eventually went to Salman Khan. Apparently, the actor wasn't keen to pursue work in Hindi cinema given that his Bengali career had taken off, following the success of his 1987 hit 'Amar Sanghi'.

Son of Bengali actor Biswajit Chatterjee, Prosenjit, who initially refused to divulge into details about turning down the said Hindi film, eventually clarified after being nudged, "Honestly speaking, I told you... My last Hindi film was Shanghai. And, as you know, from the last 10 to 12 years, I’m doing not those mainstream cinema. I have shifted to and I worked with all new educators."

In an earlier interview to New York Times, the actor spoke about not following his father's roadmap and pursuing a career in Bollywood, where he said, "Frankly, I did not want to jeopardize my Bengali film career at that time. I tried my hand in three Hindi films but those were not really very well thought-out or conscious decisions. They flopped. Back home, after 'Amar Sanghi' became a phenomenon and established me as a hero, I found a lot to do here. Risking all those to pursue a career in Mumbai may not have been wise. So, I refused offers, which included films such as 'Maine Pyar Kiya'."

Starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Aparshakti Khurana, Wamiqa Gabbi, Ram Kapoor and Sidhant Gupta, 'Jubilee' has been directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Soumik Sen. The series will be released in two installments, i.e. the first five episodes will premiere on April 7, followed by the remaining five on April 14.
