Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to play Nandini, 'Queen of Pazhuvoor', in Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan-1'

The makers of much-awaited magnum opus, 'Ponniyin Selvan-1' on Wednesday released the first look of actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini in the film.
Aishwarya's look in the film has been revealed a day after the makers released the first look of Karthi as Chola army commander Vanthiyathevan.
Aishwarya has been introduced as the 'Queen of Pazhuvoor'.
"Vengeance has a beautiful face! Meet Nandini, the Queen of Pazhuvoor! #PS1 releasing in theatres on 30th September in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada," the makers wrote along with the picture.
It may be mentioned that Aishwarya had played the role of Nandini in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' in 1999 opposite Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn.
Meanwhile, 'Ponniyin Selvan-1' will release on September 30 this year in five languages -- Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
The film is based on the classic Tamil novel 'Ponniyin Selvan' by eminent writer Kalki. The film, called by Mani Ratnam as his dream project, will be among the most expensive projects ever undertaken in the country.
The film has the best in business handling each of its departments. AR Rahman is scoring the music for this epic historical and cinematography is by Ravi Varman.
National Award winning art director Thotta Tharani is in charge of production design while Mani Ratnam's trusted editor Sreekar Prasad is handling its editing.
