Ayan Mukerji’s Father And Veteran Actor Deb Mukherjee Passes Away At 83
Ayan Mukerji’s father and veteran actor Deb Mukherjee passed away on March 14, 2025, at the age of 83. He was unwell and was hospitalised, and took his last breath this morning. The actor’s funeral will take place at Pawan Hans, Mumbai, today evening. Deb Mukherjee had starred in multiple films like Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, King Uncle, and others.

The actor’s funeral will take place at Pawan Hans, Mumbai, today evening. Deb Mukherjee had starred in multiple films like Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, King Uncle, and others. His last appearance on the screens was in 2009 release Kaminey which starred Shahid Kapoor in the lead role.
Every year during Durga Puja, Deb was seen at the North Bombay Durga Puja pandal, and his affection towards his nieces, Rani Mukerji and Kajol, used to grab everyone’s attention.
He was the son of Sashadhar Mukherjee and Satidevi Mukherjee. While the former was a producer and the owner of Filmalaya studios, the latter was the sister of Ashok Kumar, Anup Kumar and Kishore Kumar. Deb came from a film family background, so even he became an actor.
Apart from his movies, the veteran actor had made it to the headlines because of his two marriages. From his first marriage, he has a daughter named Sunita who is married to filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker. Ayan Mukerji is the son from his second marriage.
At Durga Puja, Deb used to pose with Rani, Kajol, and Ayan every year. His pictures and videos used to grab everyone's attention.
Deb was born on November 14, 1941 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The whole Mukherjee family is expected to be at the funeral today.
