Aakhri Sawaal Teaser: Sanjay Dutt, Namashi Chakraborty's Film On RSS Touches Upon Historical & Political Questions

The teaser of the upcoming film Aakhri Sawaal, starring Sanjay Dutt, was unveiled on Thursday by the makers. The film is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Abhijeet Mohan Warang and produced by Nikhil Nanda. It is scheduled to release in theatres on May 8, 2026.

According to the makers, the film addresses several historical and political developments that have been debated in the country for decades. The teaser references events ranging from the ban imposed on RSS after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi to allegations surrounding the Babri Masjid demolition, suggesting that the narrative will revolve around questions related to these incidents.

Apart from Sanjay Dutt, the film also features Amit Sadh, Namashi Chakraborty, Sameera Reddy, Neetu Chandra and Tridha Choudhury in key roles.

The story follows a young scholar named Vicky, who accuses his mentor, Professor Gopal Nadkarni, of bias after his academic thesis is rejected. What begins as a disagreement between the two reportedly escalates into a nationally televised debate. The narrative explores issues such as differing interpretations of history, generational perspectives, and questions raised by young people.

The plot also centres on a conflict between the teacher and his student, with the protagonist’s persistent questioning eventually leading to the revelation of a long-buried secret that could impact both characters.

Abhijeet Mohan Warang made his directorial debut with the Marathi-language film Picasso (2021), which received a Special Mention at the 67th National Film Awards. His previous works also include projects such as Deja Vu and Virtual Reality.

Aakhri Sawaal is presented by Nikhil Nanda Motion Pictures. The film is produced by Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt, with Puneet Nanda, Dr. Deepak Singh, Gaurav Dubey and Ujjwal Anand serving as co-producers.

The story, screenplay and dialogues are written by Utkarsh Naithani, while the music is composed by Monty Sharma with lyrics by Kumar Vishwas.

The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 8, 2026.
