NEET UG Counselling 2026: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the Round 1 seat matrix for NEET UG Counselling 2026 and activated the reset registration option for candidates who may have entered incorrect information during registration.

As per the MCC notice dated August 7, candidates who have made mistakes in their registration details or selected an incorrect option can use the unlock/reset registration facility to make corrections. The facility will remain available until 11 AM on August 12, 2026.

The move comes as MCC proceeds with the first round of undergraduate medical counselling. The Round 1 seat matrix covers MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing seats across participating institutions.

NEET UG Counselling 2026: What is the reset option?

The reset facility is meant for candidates who accidentally entered wrong information during the registration process.

Candidates can use it to:

Unlock their registration details.

Correct information entered incorrectly during registration.

Change an option that was selected by mistake.

Recheck the information before proceeding further with counselling.

Submit the corrected details through the MCC portal.

MCC has specified that the reset option will be available only up to 11 AM on August 12. Candidates who need to make corrections should therefore complete the process before the deadline rather than waiting until the final hours.

NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 1 Seat Matrix: Course-Wise Seat Matrix

MCC has released the Round 1 seat matrix covering MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing seats. The matrix lists 31,728 seats in total across the three undergraduate courses.

MBBS: 27,292 seats

BDS: 4,068 seats

B.Sc Nursing: 368 seats

Total: 31,728 seats

What the Seat Matrix Includes

The MCC seat matrix gives candidates a detailed breakup of seats based on:

Course: MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing

State: State-wise participating institutions

Institute: Individual medical, dental and nursing colleges

Quota: All India, Open Seat Quota, NRI, Self-Financed Merit Seat, ESI and other applicable quotas

Category: BC, EW, OP, SC and ST

PwD/PwBD: Separate seats wherever applicable

Gender: Both or Female Only, depending on the institution and course

For example, the matrix lists MBBS seats at AIIMS Mangalagiri, with separate entries for BC, EW, OP, SC and ST categories, including applicable PwD seats.

The BDS section includes seats at government dental colleges, while the B.Sc Nursing section includes seats at institutions such as colleges of nursing in Delhi, ESIC nursing colleges in Karnataka and the College of Nursing at BHU.

Important: The 31,728 figure is the total across MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing, not MBBS seats alone.

How to use the MCC seat matrix

Candidates can go through the seat matrix before filling their preferences. A simple way to check it is:

Step 1: Open the Round 1 seat matrix released by MCC.

Step 2: Find your preferred state or institution in the list.

Step 3: Check whether the college offers MBBS, BDS or BSc Nursing seats.

Step 4: Check the quota against the college and course.

Step 5: Look at the category-wise seat breakup.

Step 6: Check whether any PwD/PwBD or other special-category seats are listed.

Step 7: Note the number of seats available for your applicable category.

Step 8: Use this information while preparing your choice preference list.

The matrix, for instance, lists government medical colleges in states including Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and West Bengal, among others.
