Mumbai: The state government has directed all private pre-primary education providers – including Pre-Schools, Nursery, junior and senior KG – to register themselves on the official government portal within the next seven days.

This initiative comes as part of the implementation of the newly formulated State Curriculum Framework Foundation Stage (SCF-FS), aligning with the National Education Policy 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework-Foundation Stage (NCF-FS).

Under the NEP 2020’s revised 5+3+3+4 education structure, the first five years – comprising three years of pre-primary education along with Classes 1 and 2 – are collectively defined as the ‘foundational stage’. The new state curriculum framework emphasises the government’s objective to provide free, safe, high-quality, and developmentally appropriate early childhood care and education (ECCE) to all children aged 3 to 8 years.

Currently, children aged 3 to 6 years are educated through Anganwadis, Balwadis, government-linked pre-primary sections, and private pre-primary schools. While government and local authority-run centers are documented under the Department of Women and Child Development.
