JoSAA 2026 Counselling:JoSAA Counselling 2026: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has begun the JoSAA 2026 counselling registration and choice-filling process today, June 2, on the official website.
Candidates who are eligible and qualified in JEE Main 2026 and JEE Advanced 2026 can complete the registration process for counselling on the official website.
Candidates can register for JoSAA 2026 and submit their choices until June 11, 2026, at 5 p.m.
It is important to note that the JoSAA registration and choice-filling link will only be activated once during the counselling process. Candidates will not have the opportunity to register again in subsequent rounds. Aspirants are advised to complete the process carefully before the deadline.

JoSAA Counselling 2026: Registration Process
Step 1: Visit the official JoSAA portal and click on “New Candidate Registration.”
Step 2: Log in using JEE Main 2026 details such as application number, candidate name, mother’s name, and date of birth.
Step 3: Verify the OTP sent to the registered mobile number and email ID, then create a password.
Step 4: Log in to the candidate dashboard using the JEE Main application number and newly created password.
Step 5: Check and confirm personal, academic, and category details displayed on the screen.
JoSAA 2026 Counselling: Seat Matrix 2026
Joint Seat Allocation Authority counselling is a centralised online seat allocation process conducted for admissions to 127 premier engineering institutes across India, including 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, and more than 47 GFTIs.

After finalising the choices, candidates must lock them on or before June 11, 2026.
Locking the choices is compulsory for participating in the seat allotment process. In case candidates do not manually lock their choices before the deadline, the system will automatically lock the last saved preferences.

Before filling choices for Joint Seat Allocation Authority Counselling 2026, candidates must note that registration is mandatory to participate in the counselling process. Students can add unlimited choices while selecting institutes and courses, but they should arrange them carefully in order of preference.
Candidates must lock their choices before the deadline. If choices are saved but not locked manually, the system will automatically lock them after the deadline, and these auto-locked choices will still be considered during seat allotment rounds.

JoSAA 2026 Counselling: Major Changes Introduced
Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru has been included in the joint seat allocation process alongside IITs.
OCI/PIO (I) candidates who completed Class 12 abroad will be eligible only for Other State or All India quota seats in the NIT+ system.
Preparatory rank lists have increased from four to seven with new categories for OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD, and ST-PwD candidates.
The term “NIT+ System” will now be used more consistently for NITs, IIITs, IIEST, and GFTIs.
Female supernumerary seat allocation rules now include more detailed explanations for category and state quota distribution.
JoSAA Counselling 2026: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates seeking admission to IITs and IISc must qualify JEE (Advanced) 2026.
Students applying for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs must have a valid JEE (Main) 2026 rank.
All candidates must also fulfil the Class 12 eligibility requirements mentioned in the JoSAA business rules.
JEE Advanced 2026 ranks will be used for IIT admissions, while JEE Main 2026 ranks will be considered for admission to NITs, IIITs, IIESTs, and other GFTIs.
