A surprising incident from Saharsa district in Bihar has gone viral on social media, where an airport runway usually meant for aircraft landings and takeoffs was turned into an open-air examination center. In visuals circulating online, over 300 candidates are seen sitting on the ground under the open sky, appearing for a written test.
Why an Airport Runway Was Used as Exam Venue
This unusual exam venue belongs to a private academy operating within the Saharsa airport premises. The academy specialises in preparing young candidates for recruitment into security forces like Bihar Police, the Army, and other paramilitary services. While the academy regularly conducts physical training sessions here, it now also organises written tests on the runway, citing the need for a large, open space.

According to media reports, the academy conducts the tests every Sunday. Without desks and benches, the students sit on the ground and write in answer books. Videos reveal candidates neatly seated in rows along the runway, taking the test with discipline. While a few viewers online were shocked, others termed it as a practical alternative in the absence of better facilities.
The academy director explained the setup to the media, saying that the runway would only be used in case there is no alternative venue for it. He added that the physical training exercises have been held here for years, and now it's being utilised for written exams as well.
This innovative method of holding exams has generated online discussion on the internet with people questioning infrastructure issues and finding new methods to overcome them.
