Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Despite the DGP’s directive to transfer police personnel posted at the same station for over five years, nearly 50 officers have managed to escape a recent reshuffle in the Bhopal Police Commissionerate.
Following the DGP’s directive, as many as 699 personnel including 30 sub-inspectors and 56 assistant sub-inspectors were transferred recently. Still several officers who fell under the criteria continue to serve at the same police stations where they have been posted for over five years.
Moreover, a number of inspectors and sub-inspectors have remained in Bhopal district for over a decade, serving at different police stations and on various postings. These officers have never been transferred to other districts and have remained posted in the state capital throughout.
Sources in the police department said that these officers, around 50 in number, include those who have been serving at the same police station for over five years, as well as those who managed to get their transfers outside Bhopal cancelled.
Many personnel of SI and Inspector ranks have served for over a decade and in some cases, even 12 years on different postings in the same district. Some of them are even nearing retirement, sources added.
Among those who escaped the recent reshuffle are a sub-inspector and three assistant sub-inspectors from the Crime Branch. They have been posted there for nearly five years but somehow managed to stop their transfers.
In many cases, cops were transferred from the Crime Branch to the Cyber Cell or vice versa, though both departments fall under the same DCP.
Police sources said there are personnel of various ranks posted at Bagsewania, Misrod, TT Nagar, Bajaria, Habibganj, MP Nagar, Kolar, Shahpura and Piplani who have been serving at the same police station for three to even 12 years. Many of them got themselves re-posted to the same police station two or even three times after being transferred earlier.
Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra said that cops who have been serving for long at the same police stations are being identified, and a second transfer list will be prepared soon.
